What Is Fat Transfer Breast Augmentation?

Posted .

You might be interested in breast augmentation for a number of different reasons. Your goals, medical reasons and body type can all play a factor in what type of breast augmentation your surgeon might recommend for you.

Fat transfer breast augmentation is a procedure that provides a slight to modest augmentation to a woman’s breast without the use of a silicone or saline-filled implant. In this procedure, fatty tissues are removed from other parts of your body as part of a liposuction procedure.

For some women, your surgeon might recommend a tissue expansion system to use for a few weeks prior to the procedure. This procedure has a small silicon balloon placed just under the skin of your breast. It is then filled with a small amount of saline. Over time, more saline is added in, gradually increasing amounts. This helps stretch and expand the skin to prepare it for the final fat augmentation procedure.

The fat augmentation procedure will require the surgeon to sedate you. You should arrange to have a friend or family member drive you home from the procedure. It’s also a good idea to have someone on hand to help you with recovery for the next couple of days.
