If
you live with unwanted hair, sun damage, facial veins, leg veins, or
acne, you may be surprised to find out that these conditions can all be
treated with the same light-based technology.
Many people are familiar with laser hair removal or other forms of
light-based hair reduction. But few know how versatile light-based
treatments have become. One versitile system can treat unwanted hair,
sunspots, spider veins, acne, leg veins, rosacea, and more. It’s a
tremendous advantage to both doctor and patient to treat all of these
conditions without having to use multiple devices or refer the patient
to other practitioners for additional treatments.
During treatment sessions, filtered light is directed onto the skin and
is absorbed by the melanin in hair, pigmented lesions, and the blood in
visible vessels. The light heats the pigment and disables the hair
follicles and the cells that produce the pigment. In the case of
vessels, the light is absorbed by the hemoglobin within the veins,
causing them to shrink and fade from view.
The StarLux cools the skin as it treats, allowing for safe and effective
treatments. Most patients describe the light pulses as a ‘snapping’
sensation, which causes mild discomfort at most. After the treatment,
there may be some redness for a few days, but that quickly fades and the
patient can enjoy the effects of smoother, clearer skin, with improved
tone and texture.
Laser Hair Reduction
If you live with unwanted hair on your back, legs, upper lip, or other
areas, you may be surprised to find that you can find permanent relief
to your problem through pulsed light hair removal. Pulsed light
treatments are remarkable because they provide permanent hair reduction
on large body areas with a minimum of discomfort.
Pulsed light is similar to a laser in that it uses an intense beam of
light. But Palomar employs a new technology that removes hair up to ten
times faster than lasers. With the Palomar Pulsed Light System, patients
have experienced superior results after only a few treatments.
Pulsed light treatments are exponentially more effective than such
temporary solutions as shaving, waxing and using depilatories. They also
have the flexibility to provide varied hair removal treatments on
different types of skin and hair. As opposed to electrolysis which is
impractical for larger areas, pulsed light hair reduction is ideally
suited for the treatment of large areas. Treatments are relatively quick
and mess-free. They remove the hair before it becomes visible.
Because the hair reduction is permanent, the treatments often are less
expensive over the long term. Many different areas of the body can be
treated with Pulsed Light hair reduction, including the face, neck,
arms, legs, chest, back, axillae, and bikini line. Multiple treatments
are required since a hair follicle must be active at the time of
treatment in order to be affected by the pulsed light.
Photofacial Rejuvenation & Wrinkle Reduction
If you live with sun damage and visible veins on your
face, chest, arms, and other areas, there is new hope for a rejuvenated
appearance through light-based treatments. The Palomar RejuveLux™
Process employs pulsed light to perform the most effective photofacials
available.
The RejuveLux Process or photofacial is remarkable because it has the
versatility to treat both pigmented lesions and vessels safely and
effectively, while improving skin tone and texture and alleviating some
fine lines and wrinkles. The RejuveLux Process is accomplished with a
Palomar Pulsed Light System. Pulsed light is similar to a laser in that
it uses an intense beam of light, but pulsed light can cover a larger
body area with each pulse than a laser can, and it is gentler on the
skin. Because the procedure is non-ablative and no skin is removed, no
healing is required after completion of the procedure.
During RejuveLux treatments, pulses of light are directed onto the skin
and absorbed by the melanin in pigmented lesions and the blood in
visible vessels. The light heats the pigment and disables the cells that
produce it. These dead cells are naturally shed by the body after about
two weeks, leaving behind fresh, unblemished skin. In the case of
vessels, the light is absorbed by the hemoglobin within the veins,
causing them to shrink and fade from view. After the treatment, there
may be some redness for a few days, but that quickly fades and the
patient can enjoy the effects of clearer skin, with improved tone and
texture.
As with other non-ablative skin resurfacing treatments for facial
rejuvenation, a series of treatments is required to obtain the best
results. In addition, photofacials may be used in concert with
alternating chemical peels and microdermabrasion to help maximize
individual results.
Spider Veins and Vascular Lesion Treatment
Spider veins are tiny capillaries near the surface of
the skin which can be red, blue or purple in color. They are also known
as telangiectasias. Although these lesions can appear in many different
locations, they are commonly seen on the cheeks, chin, and around the
nose.
Rosacea is inflammation and swelling of the face and
can manifest in different ways. Individuals can have redness on the
cheeks, chin, nose, or forehead. They may also have tiny visible blood
vessels as described above.
Using our state-of-the-art StarLux laser platform by
Palomar we are able to treat many different vascular lesions, including
spider veins, and rosacea. The light is absorbed by the blood and shrinks
the capillaries. The capillaries may redden or become gray after
treatment and then fade from view after approximately ten days. Some
results may be visible immediately. However, multiple treatments will be
required for a full optimal effect.
Scar Treatment
New state-of-the-art
techniques can be used to improve the appearance of scars. Lasers and
pulsed light treatments can be used to lighten the color of scars. Tiny
amounts of injectable materials can be used to elevate or fill-in
depressed scars. Newer thickened scars can be treated with various
topical or injectable treatments.
Hyperpigmentation Treatment
Lasers and pulsed light treatments can be
used to lighten the color of scars and darkly pigmented lesions. We also
have various cosmeceutical products which can be used alone or in
concert with light-based treatments to treat areas of hyperpigmentation. |
